In April, Oki Europe Ltd opened its Moscow office and unveiled a suite of products designed to increase the company’s share of the Russian printer market. We believe the Russian market has passed the stage when it was highly price-sensitive and is now ready to buy more expensive printers, says Oki Europe general manager for Russia, Richard Bennett. The spearhead of Oki’s new presence will be the OkiPAGE 4W, a four-page-per-minute, 600dpi light-emitting diode printer. The company is currently developing a service strategy that could include a wholly-owned local presence or subcontracting service to a local partner. Oki presently has two dealers: Nexus and Infotel. During Comtek ’96 the company says that it will be talking to many other firms.
