OKI ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL 1987 PURCHASES OF FOREIGN CHIPS REACHED 23% OF ITS TOTAL INTERNAL REQUIREMENT

Oki Electric Industrial Co reckons that it has been doing more than its fair share in meeting the terms of the US-Japan semiconductor agreement, saying that its 1987 purchases of foreign chips reached 23% of its total internal requirement, against the 20% that the US Semiconductor Industry Association has been demanding: the additional purchases followed prompting from the Ministry of International Trade & Industry and involved mainly EPROMs and bipolar semiconductors.
