Ooh la la! Silver Spring lights up the ‘City of Lights’

SSN selected to connect cabinet-based controllers across the streets of Paris.

Silver Spring Networks (SSN) has expande its relationship with EVESA, the operator responsible for managing the streetlight and traffic control systems in the City of Paris.

The venture will see SSN deploying a citywide canopy network to connect the aboveground and subterranean cabinet-based controllers.

SSN has been running its own smart city platform to improve systems’ reliability, increase energy efficiency, lower operational costs, extend equipment lifespan, and enhance citizen safety, as well as quality of life within urban areas by installing a intelligent lighting systems within its borders.

The open, standards-based solution has also enabled cities to establish a platform for future smart city applications and services such as traffic management, environmental sensors, smart parking, electric vehicle charging, electricity metering, water conservation, and many others.

SSN was recently involved in the Florida Power & Light smart project, which connected nearly 500,000-networked streetlights across South Florida.

Other cities like Bristol, Chicago, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Melbourne, Miami, Sao Paulo, San Francisco, Singapore and Washington, D.C. will also experience SSN’s solution for connected infrastructure.

Overall, the company delivered over 20 million IPv6-networked devices for critical infrastructure networks on the world’s five continents.
