Following concerns over the way some companies involved in submarine cable consortia are offering capacity on undersea lines, Oftel, the UK telecommunications watchdog has launched an inquiry. Oftel has said it wants to establish that current practices did not give rise to competition concerns, according to the Financial Times. Companies involved in the consortia include British Telecommunications Plc, AT&T Corp and Cable & Wireless Communications Plc.
