OEM BLAMES SUPPLIER FOR POOR PERFORMANCE

By CBR Staff Writer

After blaming the strength of the Deutschmark and the general decline of the UK typewriter market for its poor performance in the latter half of 1986 (CI No 671) , Office and Electronic Machines Plc is now pointing the finger at its main supplier, Triumph Adler AG, for its latest, dismal, showing (see page five): OEM says the recent reorganisation at Triumph Adler culminating in last month’s release of new typewriters should improve its future prospects, but screen-based products promised for the current half back in April will not be ready until next year; OEM has sold its Jim Davis Models division; an investigation, prior to the sale, showed that the division had an unexplained loss of UKP50,000; further investigations are underway.
