Octagon Telecommunications Services Ltd is launching the Resale Forum information service for companies seeking to take advantage of the decision to allow simple resale of capacity on leased telecommunications lines (CI No 1,200). Octagon has added the network, for buyers and sellers of telecommunications resale facilities, to its existing Octagon Telecommunications Information Service, OTIS. The new Resale Forum will include a central register of routes on which re-sellers are offering capacity, a news service on telecommunications resale and an information exchange through which Forum members can offer their services. The central register of routes will be held on a database at the company’s London base, with the other services provided on Istel Ltd’s Comet electronic mail service. Membership of the Forum is UKP140 per user per month. Octagon Telecommunications managing director John Hunter expects many of the early re-sellers to offer telephony services to rural areas of the UK.
