The technology works by jetting two different FullCure model materials using the 3D printer in the required combinations by controlling the nozzles in each print head of the 3D printer. The technology provides the foundation for 3D printing systems that can print parts and assemblies in a single build process.

Objet has coined the term ‘Digital Material’ to describe the result of producing a composite substance using PolyJet Matrix Technology. The Digital Materials are formulated by simultaneously jetting two model materials to create new composite materials.

Prior to the introduction of Connex500, the company offered seven FullCure model materials. The Connnex500 produces parts and assemblies with 21 new Digital Materials along with the seven original materials. It prints parts with specific Shore A values, which is a scale used to indicate material hardness in soft, flexible materials.

We can now offer manufacturers of consumer electronics, automobiles and other products a powerful way to reduce the costs and risks associated with creating double injection molds, which can be as much as five times more expensive than standard molds, said Adina Shorr, chief executive at Objet Geometries.

The company said that it will introduce its PolyJet Matrix Technology and the first 3D system based on it at the EuroMold 2007 exhibition on December 5-8 in Frankfurt, Germany.
