The Object Management Group says it plans to up its European profile through an expansion of its Southern European Liaison Office, based at Genesis Development Srl offices in Turin, Italy. The office will promote Corba, Unified Modeling Language and internet standards and coordinate all OMG activities throughout mainland Europe, cooperating with existing OMG offices in Frankfurt, Germany and London, England. OMG says it is seeking to boost European membership in business areas such as finance, insurance, manufacturing, biotechnology, and telecommunications. Genesis Development Corp is a West Chester, Pennsylvania-based professional services company and Corba user. Its head of European operations, Dr Diego Lo Giudice, will also run OMG operations. Before joining Genesis, Lo Giudice was program manager for object technology at Olivetti Systems for ten years.
