The technology that allows for this service was originally developed by scaraboo, a small firm that was sponsored by Siemens Mobile Acceleration. Customers will be asked to send an SMS to register to play. Once they have done this they can place virtual credits on particular matches. The allowance is 100 credits per day.
At the end of every game the user will be sent a message confirming the result and whether or not they have been successful. At the end of the World Cup the most successful gamblers will receive prizes. Cash prizes are not available at the moment, but O2 plans to introduce them later in the year.
