NVIDIA unveils new R310 GeForce drivers for Linux OS

The new drivers are designed to enhance the performance of Linux Gaming

NVIDIA has introduced its new R310 GeForce drivers, which the company said will help the gamers using Linux operating system by doubling the performance and reducing game loading times

With the new GeForce R310 drivers, GeForce customers can enjoy enhanced Linux-based PC gaming experience.

The R310 drivers support the new GeForce GTX 600 series GPUs as well as supports previous generation GeForce GPUs, including the 8800 GT and above.

The new R310 drivers were tested with Steam for Linux, the extension of Valve’s popular Steam gaming platform that officially opened to gamers starting today.

Valve had revealed that a public beta of Steam for Linux will be released soon and the company had revealed that the Linux version of Steam will come with support for Ubuntu 12.04.

Valve Marketing vice president Doug Lombardi said: "With this release, NVIDIA has managed to increase the overall gaming performance under Linux."
