Web-scale infrastructure convergers Nutanix are behind the software powering Dell’s new XC Series of web-scale converged appliances.

The hardware series features five appliances with varying price ranges, ready for various virtualised applications. These include applications such as virtual desktop infrastructures and enterprise business applications, and can be deployed in data centres or on-premise office locations.

Under the hood, the Nutanix software brings data locality capabilities and de-duplication and compression for capacity optimisation, with one-click hypervisor upgrades.

The appliances also have the flexibility to run one of multiple hypervisors, inclusing VMware’s vSphere and Microsoft’s Hyper-V.

"Today, companies both large and small see excellent value in an infrastructure that integrates storage, servers and software into a workload-centric solution that can be provisioned in hours and scaled in minutes," said Alan Atkinson, VP of Dell Storage.

CEO of Nutanix, Dheeraj Pandey, said: "We provide a highly scalable and uncompromisingly simple solution that gives customers a great alternative to traditional datacenter architectures.

"Leveraging Dell’s powerful sales channel and world-class hardware platforms, the Dell XC Series brings web-scale to an even broader audience of companies seeking datacenter simplicity and scalability. "
