NTV and NTT DoCoMo work towards mobile TV service

Japan's biggest mobile operator, NTT DoCoMo Inc, has struck a deal with the country's second largest TV broadcasting company, Nippon Television Network Corp, to work towards the launch of a new mobile TV broadcasting service.

The collaboration between the Japanese companies follows almost immediately a similar deal struck between the UK’s biggest TV broadcaster the BBC and mobile operator Orange.

NTV says the companies have reached an agreement to form a strategic alliance mainly for joint study to connect the datacasting service on the Mobile DTT broadcasting and the existing mobile services. According to the broadcaster, both parties also agreed to establish a Limited Liability Partnership for content development.
