Japan’s Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp claims that a new optical memory material it has developed can be recorded 100m times faster than existing optical materials – it does 250Kb in 0.0006 seconds, says NTT.It uses an optochemical hole-burning method in Japanese English, more technically, photon-gated electron transfer. NTT also says a 5 Compact Disk of the material could store 1,000 times more than conventional compact disks.
