NTT TO USE TRON-SPECIFIC MICROPROCESSOR FOR NEW WORKSTATION

By CBR Staff Writer

Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp is to use one of the 32-bit Tron-specific microprocessors for a new workstation, and has picked a member of the Gmicro family being developed by Hitachi, Fujitsu and Mitsubishi – each developing complementary versions and support chips for the family: NTT’s decision is expected to give the triumvirate a head start and an advantage in the Tron market, and is a blow to the Toshiba and Matsushita efforts.
