Under pressure from the government and new competitors, Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Co has agreed to reveal information on the use of its services to enhance competition in the telecommunications market: up to now, NTT has treated key traffic information on the use of telephones and other telecommunications systems, such as the number of calls that are made between each administrative district and the revenues it derives from each district as a closely-guarded corporate secret; it now says details such as the number of subscribers in each district, the number and volume of calls from each district, an hourly breakdown of use in each district and traffic between prefectures will be released by June.
