Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp is planning rapid expansion of Integrated Services Digital Network to regional cities soon after the introduction of ISDN in April this year: it initially planned services based on a backbone linking the three cities of Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, but this is now to be expanded to Yokohama and Kawasaki (near Tokyo) as well, and expanded to 17 regional cities by September this year; by the end of 1989, it is hoped that ISDN will be available from 656 cities around Japan; the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications is in a huddle right now over the prices NTT will be permitted to ask.
