Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp and its 14 partners who have teamed to generate more business for the phone company in the slack evening hours on Friday incorporated a new company, NTT Off-Talk Tsushin Ltd, which will manage information services for use during off-peak hours: the new company, capitalised at $3.1m is owned 49% by NTT, 15% by Nippon Steel Corp with the rest held by the other 12 companies; subscribers will pay around $4 per month, while information providers – of such things as share prices, small ads and music – will pay a leased line circuit charge of around $36 per month within a single telephone area, and monthly link-up charge of around 46 cents per subscriber connected.
