NTT FORMS TELECONFERENCING PACT

The thirteen companies of the NTT group and seventeen other companies, including PictureTel Corp have agreed to establish a multi area connection image telecommunications service company in May, according to reports in Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun. The service will allow teleconferencing systems to be viewed from a variety of locations; up to 1,000 different areas would be able to tune in. The service itself will begin in July. The new company, NDT Phoenix Telecommunications Network will be financed with 90 million yen, with NTT contributing 44.34%, PictureTel 19.9%, Otsuka Shokai and Noah 10% and Canon Sales 5%. The new company will have 30 employees and the president will come from NTT.
