New regulation would require DoCoMo to gain approval for any interconnection fees from appropriate authorities. This is expected to lead to lower interconnection fees. Yet lower fees might stifle the growth of one of Japan’s leading new companies. There is strong opposition against the legislation from leading figures within the government whom are still struggling to revive a country that is in financial turmoil.
