NTT Corp has delayed until late this month the release of its new low-power cordless telephones – they transmit a local signal at 10mW – which had been it planned for December: official reason is that it wants to perfect the technology, but industry observers believe it may be re-thinking its marketing strategy in the face of introduction already of very low power units that fall outside the regulated radio transmission spectrum by Sharp and Uniden, and faster than expected pick-up in the cordless telephone market; NTT had planned to sell the phones for around $625, and had contracted manufacture to Matsushita Communication Industrial Co and Kokusai Electric Co and faces competition from Toshiba, Sanyo, Tamra and Matsushita.
