NTT Data Communications, Nissan Motors and Matsushita Electric Industrial have agreed to establish a new jointly-owned company to build inter-enterprise satellite communications networks and to develop new satellite communications services: the new Star Communications Planning will be established on November 10, and start operation next April; it will be 40% owned by NTT Data with Nissan and Matsushita having 30% each; services will include design and construction of wide area satellite communications networks which will use privately-owned commercial transponders to provide links between sales outlets; the new consortium is negotiating with Japan Communications Satellite, owned by C Itoh & Co and Mitsui & Co to use their transponder.
