NTT CONSIDERS IBM GLOBAL NETWORK BUY

By CBR Staff Writer

Nippon Telegraph and Telephine Co is said to be one of the companies interested in buying IBM Corp’s Global Network division, which IBM has now admitted is up for sale. Deregulation will enable NTT to enter international markets next year, and IBM’s Global Network would give it access to IBM’s worldwide network. The two have already agreed to link the network with NTT’s domestic services. IBM’s CEO Louis Gerstner and Sam Palmisano, who heads the Global Network, were both in Japan this week.
