NTT AND CORNING GLASS HAVE JOINT RESEARCH AGREEMENT

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone and Corning Glass have signed a joint agreement to carry out research on fluoride glasses, which are thought to have potentially better optical capabilities than silica glasses currently used for fibre optic manufacture: the companies will focus on properties of fluoride glasses, for example, their stability against recrystallisation, chemical and physical durability.
