NT TO BRING IN $300M FOR SGI IN 99 SAYS REPORT

Merrill Lynch & Co is looking for Silicon Graphics Inc’s new Windows NT products to generate some $300m of sales in its fiscal 1999, on roughly 60,000 systems. It estimates that there are one million Mac users up for grabs, 600,000 Unix users moving to NT, and 2.2 million PC users upsizing that provide a healthy target. SGI sells fewer than 70,000 Unix workstations annually. á
