Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) said that they are planning to form a new joint venture to address the Carrier Ethernet Transport market.

The new venture extends their previously announced partnership to deliver a fully interoperable Carrier Ethernet solution for mobile backhaul, business services and residential broadband networks.

The new joint venture, to be headquartered in the Netherlands, is expected to commence in the fourth calendar quarter of 2009, subject to fulfillment of customary closing conditions and necessary regulatory approvals.

The companies said that the planned solution will enable customers to monetise their networks through a faster time-to-market for new revenue-generating services and by improving network efficiency, which is expected to drive down transport costs.

The joint solution will be built from Juniper Networks MX Series Ethernet Services Routers, NSN’s A-series Carrier Ethernet Switches as well as its ‘point-and-click’ network management system.

Juniper and Nokia Siemens Networks have a long-standing partnership that encompasses IP aggregation, edge and core products and have deployed solutions in more than 200 service provider networks around the world.

This joint venture further enhances the partnerships position in the Carrier Ethernet segment, one of the fastest growing network applications for wireline and mobile service providers.
