Network Solutions Inc, gearing up for competition in at least part of its market by the middle of next year, says it is planning a few more services to help differentiate it from its eventual competition. It recently added the ability to offer email addresses in domain name registered through the company in an attempt to keep visitors coming back to its site. It intends to stay focused solely on the small- to medium-sized business market and so will tailor any value-added services accordingly. The main area the company is looking at is online shopping, probably in the form of some sort of price comparison service. It already partners with a clutch of web hosting firms so that market is clearly out for NSI, but it might try to leverage its back office experience to provide support for the new registrars, if they should require it.
