Unix System Laboratories Inc has announced that its Tuxedo/Enterprise Transaction Processing extensions, which enable the integration of proprietary mainframe-based transaction processing applications and personal computers and workstations into a standards-based distributed transaction processing network, are now available. The new devices, which were demonstated at Unix Expo last October and again at UniForum in January, are Tuxedo/Host, a gateway between Unix systems running the transaction manager and mainframes running MVS/CICS, and Tuxedo/WS, which enables personal computers and workstations running under MS-DOS, Windows 3.0, Unix System V.4 or OS/2 to serve as fully functional clients in distributed transaction processing architectures.
