Syquest Technology Inc has now found another storage systems company to sue: this time it’s Castlewood Systems Inc, a firm that just happens to have been started by Syquest’s founder and former chief executive officer, Syed Iftikar. Iftikar resigned from Syquest in August 1996 (CI No 2,980) and immediately founded Castlewood, of Milpitas, California. Now the firm is ready to ship new generation high capacity removable disk drives competing against Syquest, which is accusing Castlewood of misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition. Syquest is seeking an injunction preventing shipments of the disks.
