South Korea is the latest country to start investigating Microsoft Corp over alleged anti-competitive practises. The South Korean Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says that Microsoft has been charging domestic manufacturers high prices for Windows 98 PC application software while installing its word processing software free. An FTC official, quoted in the Korean Maeil Business Newspaper, said that the chances of pressing charges for high prices were slim but said: If evidence is found that Microsoft has been giving away software for assembly PCs, we could press for heavy fines, which would be equivalent to 2% of the companyÆs profits in Korea.
