Novell Inc, Provo, Utah seems to be making one or more investments a week these days, and this week’s initiative is to put some money into Salt Lake City, Utah-based Serius Corp, which has developed an object-based software application builder for the Macintosh personal computer, taking an undisclosed stake in the company. The aim of the unquantified investment is to seal an agreement under which Serius will do a version of the Macintosh software for Novell’s MS-DOS-compatible DR DOS operating system. Darrell Miller, Novell’s executive vice-president, will join Serius’s board. The Serius object technology is designed to enable non-technical users to build custom applications using prefabricated program objects, which can be configured and connected in virtually unlimited combinations.
