NOW HUNTING LETS ITS LYNWOOD SCIENTIFIC ACQUISITION GO IN A MANAGEMENT BUYOUT

By CBR Staff Writer

One of the few remaining UK terminal and workstation manufacturers – Lynwood Scientific Developments Ltd – has broken free from its parent company Hunting Group Plc after a management buy-out, completed late last week. Chairman Keith Rushton, managing director David Prior, finance director Paul Rossiter and hardware and software development engineers Dr Richard Young and Kevin Law have moved the company from its four separate sites in Alton, Hampshire, over to new premises in Farnham, Surrey. Lynwood, established in 1968, does systems integration using Sun Microsystems and Data General machines, offers project management services, as well as designing and manufacturing its own ranges of terminals and Unix-based office workstations. The company reportedly just failed to break even last year, but hopes that by centralising operations it will enjoy a tighter control of activities. Financial details were not given. Defence electronics and systems specialist Hunting has been looking to divest itself of its non-core businesses (CI No 1,411).
