The partnership between Bell Atlantic Corp and US West Inc is flourishing, and has announced its second agreement in Czechoslovakia in a week. This time, the contract at issue is for a nation-wide packet-switched network, and the two have signed a letter of intent with the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications for a joint venture company to build the network. The dial-up and permanent virtual circuit X25 network will initially link Prague, Bratislava and Brno, with future extensions to most cities in the country. The joint venture company will be owned 51% by the Ministry, 49% by US West and Bell Atlantic. The pair already have a letter to build the Czech cellular network.
