Unix user interface software specialist IXI Ltd of Cambridge in the UK has now won Amdahl Corp as a customer for its X.desktop user interface for use with its UTS 2.0 implementation of Unix System V. X.desktop for Amdahl systems will be available from IXI in the UK and Unipress Software, Edison, New Jersey in the US. It can be run in native mode on a dedicated Amdahl processor, or in one domain on a machine partitioned using Amdahl’s Multiple Domain Feature. Amdahl UTS 2.0 is compatible with AT&T’s Unix System V.3.1, and runs on 370-type mainframes native or as a guest under VM/XA.
