NOVELL’S NEXT GENERATION NETWARE REACHES BETA

By CBR Staff Writer

Novell Inc’s Moab, the next generation version of its NetWare network operating system (CI No 3,264), has reached its beta test version. The product is an intranet and Internet system intended to build on Novell’s current Netware and IntranetWare server products, adding support for the deployment of applications based on Java, CORBA/IIOP objects and Microsoft Corp’s ActiveX. Moab is said to provide advanced application support and better management and control for network administrators. The first release of the software includes a Java Virtual Machine, a Java SoftwareDeveloper’s Kit and support for native TCP/IP, to enable customers and developers to build, run and test Java and Internet applications on Novell systems. Beta customers can register at https://www.novell.com
