Novell Inc and Xerox Corp have won six adherents for their Document Enabled Networking initiative (CI No 2,408), which is intended to provide broad interoperability between different document management services, applications and repositories: the six are Pleasanton, California-based Documentum Inc, Eastman Kodak’s Co’s Imagery subsidiary, Dublin, Ohio-based Information Dimensions Inc, Redwood Shores, California-based Oracle Corp, the PC DOCS Inc subsidiary of PC DOCS Group International Inc and Mountain View, California-based Verity Inc; the framework is intended to aid software developers in creation of programs that act as document detectives enabling users anywhere on a NetWare network to locate and retrieve documents quickly and automatically, regardless of where they are are stored, searching on key word or words, or any of the document’s attributes, such as date of creation or name of the author.
