NOVELL UPGRADES MANAGEWISE NETWORK MANAGEMENT TOOL

By CBR Staff Writer

Novell Inc is now shipping the latest version of its ManageWise management services product enabling users to control and manage multiple vendor systems remotely. ManageWise 2.5 has more support for snap-in applications from third party organizations, and additional Windows NT desktop management capabilities. The product, aimed at network managers, is used mainly by small to medium businesses enabling them to manage IntranetWare, NetWare and NT servers, providing the capabilities to analyze network traffic, conduct network inventory, remotely control desktops, perform software distribution and prevent virus attacks. Novell says there is improved virus protection, enabling network controllers to operate remotely, via a single interface. This isn’t the first time the new version has put in an appearance – ManageWise 2.5 has appeared bundled in with the NT release of Novell Directory Services (CI No 3,264). It is also to be integrated with Computer Associates International Inc’s Unicenter TNG systems management environment, now available from CA. ManageWise 2.5 is now also available separately on a worldwide basis, with prices starting from $800.
