Novell Inc is to answer the challenge from Windows for Workgroups and MS-DOS 6 by combining DR DOS and NetWare Lite in a new operating system known internally as NetWare Bizquick, US PC Week reports. Bizquick will combine an enhanced DR DOS, NetWare Lite’s peer-to-peer local networking features and network management capabilities in a package that is being designed to be simpler to install and configure than current methods for for connecting to NetWare servers. With the trend towards making personal computers network-ready, it may well replace both DR DOS and NetWare Lite. It is expected to be ready by mid-1993, and will be sold in one- to 1,000-user versions for roughly the same price per node as current products – NetWare Lite costs $100; it will be sold both as a stand-alone product and bundled with NetWare 4.0 – and using Bizquick will likely be the only way for clients to connect to NetWare 4 servers.
