Waltham, Massachusetts-based Novell and Deluth, Georgia-based Concurrent will jointly sell and support the Concurrent Real-Time Extensions Powered by SUSE Linux platform, targeting it initially at the financial services, telecommunications, and government markets.

Both companies will also provide services and technical support for the solution, while Novell will also sell Concurrent’s NightStar development toolset for debugging distributed real-time applications. Potential applications cited by the vendors include trading floor and market data servers in the financial services industry.

Concurrent already offers NightStar for its own RedHawk Linux distribution, which is compatible with Novell rival Red Hat Inc’s Linux distribution. The company is known for its video-on-demand systems but has also seen success in the aerospace, defense, and high-performance computing sectors.
