Amplifying on why it has bought a relatively substantial stake in Unix System Laboratories Inc, Summmit, New Jersey, Orem, Utah-based Novell Inc joined with the inheritor of the soul of Unix to announce that the two had signed a memorandum of understanding on October 8 calling for a joint venture to be formed to develop and market products and services to enhance NetWare and Unix System V.4 interoperability in response to customer demand: the two agreed to make available sales, marketing and distribution resources for the joint venture’s products and will jointly fund and staff the new company at a sufficient level to provide for a rapid introduction of its initial products to market; the two are now proceeding with the negotiation of definitive agreement.
