To prepare for major product releases this fall, Novell Corp has implemented
structural changes that get rid of two executives – Christine Hughes, senior vice president for corporate marketing, and Jeff Waxman, senior vice president and general manager of group operations. Hughes was brought in last year to build up Novell’s marketing teams and Waxman was responsible for the WordPerfect business, which Novell sold to Corel Corp. Both have left to pursue other interests effective the end of July. The new structure will bring marketing under sales and product group units, so that trade show and events marketing staff move under sales and public relations and advertising staff fall within the products group. The company is moving toward solutions marketing and people are going to see Novell more aggressively asserting itself, Novell said last Friday. Novell said its intranet
ads in the Wall Street Journal last week mark the beginning of its new marketing strategy.
