NOVELL RESTRUCTURES INTO THREE AFTER DR DOS BUY

By CBR Staff Writer

Now that it owns Digital Research Inc, Novell Inc has decided it needs a new operational structure to cope with its expanded range – NetWare services, Unix and internetworking products, and DR DOS, DR Multiuser DOS and FlexOS operating systems. It has therefore created a NetWare Systems Group for product development and marketing of NetWare network services, IBM communications, Apple Macintosh and database products; an Interoperability Systems Group for product development and marketing of Unix products, TCP/IP and ISO standards products, messaging products, wide-area networking systems technology and network management product development, including intelligent hub and multi-protocol routing software; and the Digital Research Systems Group. Each has a chief reporting to chief executive Ray Noorda. Corporate functions shared by the three make up the fourth group.
