The Waltham, Massachusetts-based company will add ZENworks Asset Management to its portfolio, adding tools for discovery and inventory, license management, software usage, and trend analysis, to its systems management suite.

Novell is pitching the product as a means to track systems information and assets across a business to ensure compliance with software license agreements as well as regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley.

ZENworks Asset Management replaces Tally’s TS.Census product and will be available both as standalone product and as an add-on to current ZENworks products. Additionally, Novell plans to include the inventory discovery, identification, and reporting component of Asset Management in the forthcoming ZENworks 7 suite.

Novell announced its intention to acquire privately held Tally for an undisclosed sum in March to boost its systems management portfolio. The company has in recent years focused more on its identity management and Linux operating system technologies.
