NOVELL MUM ON ASYNCHRONOUS MODE FOR NETWARE TALKS

By CBR Staff Writer

Novell Inc is not commenting on a report in Computerworld that it is about to sign a deal with Dallas, Texas-based Efficient Networks Inc to provide Asynchronous Transfer Mode local area network emulation within NetWare. The paper quoted sources close to Novell as saying the company will license Efficient’s core Asynchronous Mode technology to provide the capabilities, although no more details were forthcoming. That the story was revealed to Computerworld now may have something to do with the fact that Microsoft Corp has recently signed a similar deal to license Olicom A/S’s Asynchronous Mode software for inclusion in its Windows operating systems.
