A spokesman for Novell Inc has denied a report in Information Week that the company is planning to merge NetWare with its GroupWise messaging system. While we are always looking at ways to leverage the two products, this will probably not take the form of a merged or bundled NetWare-GroupWise system, he said. The company is, however, planning much greater integration between the two products: the next version of GroupWise, dubbed GroupWise XTD, and planned for release next quarter, will provide native support for NetWare Directory Services, to enable network managers to update their NetWare and Group Wise directories simultaneously. According to the spokesman, the company is hoping to integrate the products so closely that GroupWise becomes the natural choice for NetWare users.
