Waltham, Massachusetts-based Novell told Computer Business Review as long ago as March 2006 that it was looking to fill team and real-time collaboration gaps in its Open Workgroup Suite portfolio; although at that time the company was talking acquisitions, rather than OEM agreements.
The deal with Maynard, Massachusetts-based SiteScape sees Novell including the next release of SiteScape’s collaboration software as a complement to its Open Workgroup Suite. The SiteScape software, which is due to be available in mid-2007, will include real-time meeting capabilities as well as team workspace collaboration tools such as blogs and wikis.
The Open Workgroup Suite was delivered in May 2006 and contains Novell Open Enterprise Server (with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server), GroupWise, ZENworks, the Novell Linux Desktop, and OpenOffice.org. A cross-platform version is also available without the Linux elements for deployment on Windows.
