Datacasting company SkyCache Inc has certified that Novell’s BorderManager FastCache is SkyCache Compatible. With this certification, BorderManager FastCache’s estimated 4.5 million enterprise customers can obtain cache injections from SkyCache’s satellite broadcasts. SkyCache aggregates statistics from all its customers to fine-tune its reactive caching and to pre-populate caches with data that is statistically likely to prove popular. This data is then downloaded via satellite into compliant caches, leaving ISPs’ leased lines free from cache traffic and updates. SkyCache says the certification covers BorderManager v2.1 and BorderManager FastCache v2.1, both now shipping, as well as BorderManager Enterprise Edition 3 and BorderManager FastCache 3, currently in controlled beta.
