Following the September announcement by IBM Corp that it was launching LANRES, to turn its mainframes into large Novell Inc NetWare file servers, Novell has launched version 1.1 of NetWare for SAA – the product that provides LU6.2 support for NetWare servers and enables them to send alerts to IBM’s NetView: the main difference in version 1.1 is that in the future the product will come in versions that support 16, 64 or 254 sessions; for customers needing more than that, two 264 session packs can be run together and Systems Application Architecture support is also made available to Macintosh machines with the new product; existing users will be getting a free upgrade in the UK.
