Novell Inc and Gradient Technologies Inc have cut a strategic deal that will put Gradient’s software licensing technology into NetWare. Besides an Electronic Software Licensing NetWare Loadable Module, the partners will deliver tools providing access to licensing services that licence-enabled NetWare applications can be built on. They expect to co-develop a significantly enhanced version of Gradient’s NetLS licence server technology, part of its iFor/LS suite, in a NetWare Loadable Module optimised for NetWare 3.X and 4.X. It will be transport-independent to support emerging comms protocols. Availability is expected later this year. NetLS software developer kits are due in the third quarter. Pricing has not been set.
