Novell Inc has added a 200-user version of NetWare for Macintosh to its 20- and 100-user configurations, and SNMP support for NetWare for Macintosh. The SNMP component is to be made available free of charge to NetWare for Macintosh users. The AppleTalk router included with the 200-user version of NetWare for Macintosh supports the AppleTalk MIB I specification for Simple Network Management Protocol. Novell will ship the 200 user version of NetWare for Mac in March with a price of $3,000. A new upgrade programme will enable users of 20-user NetWare for Mac to upgrade to the 100-user version for $1,770, and to the 200-user version for $2,770. NetWare for Mac 100 user can upgrade to 200 user support for $2,500. In a related announcement, Novell is to support Apple Data Access Language. Novell also has two new sets of NetWare Loadable Modules that can take advantage of NetWare Runtime (CI No 1,857). The first is a set of hub management products, called NetWare Hub Services, which enable hubs conforming to the hub management interface to be administered either using a New Hubcon Utility, or via an SNMP station. The second is NetWare Multiprotocol Router – entirely software, just add MS-DOS box, a local network Interface card and Runtime, or NetWare 3.11, to build your own router that will handle IPX, IP, and AppleTalk. Hub Services is $250, the router software $1,000.
