Bill Gates claims that he’s surprised that Microsoft Corp has to defend embedding browser software into the Windows operating system. At an event held by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, which mostly dealt with online safety for kids, Gates was asked by a producers what Microsoft was preparing for now that the antitrust trial was drawing to a close. What Microsoft has done in terms of making Windows better for use on the internet is fantastic, an animated Gates replied. I’m surprised we have to defend that at all. What we do is great, what the competition do is great, this is an industry that works very well.

On the witness stand, Gordon Eubanks was asked what his experience of doing business Apple Computer Corp was like. Shaking hands with an Octopus, the Oblix CEO replied, you don’t know where to start and you can’t watch your back while you’re doing it. However, Eubanks was careful to point out that this was a historic problem for Apple and not true of the company run by Steve Jobs today.
